THE STORY

There is trouble in the world.

The world’s nations fight bitterly over diminishing fossil fuels.  Food is scarce and hard to transport.  Acts of God and humans take down the electrical grid.  Civilization as we know it grinds to a halt. Technology does not save us.

And then things get really bad.

Season 1 is slated for production in Fall, 2011 for 2012 release.  It will consist of 7 x 45min episodes that take place 17 years about the events you hear in the pilot.  There will ultimately be three seasons, for a total of 21 x 45 min episodes - epic!

Kickstarter funding will go specifically towards production costs, mainly paying cast and crew.  Local businesses will donate food and printing costs, etc.  After several years of bribing actors with homemade lasagna and great coffee, we're hoping we can help them fill up their gas tanks.

ABOUT US

FinalRune Productions is a leading on-location audio drama production company nestled in the woods of Maine.  Producer Fred Greenhalgh lives in an off-grid house, and while he's not that paranoid, he's a lot about what would happen in an energy crisis and what life would be like after oil.

We've been producing shows since 2006 and giving them away for free at: http://www.finalrune.com/.  Our work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, BBC Radio 4 Blog, The Guardian Newspaper, numerous blogs... We're pleased to see tens of 1000s of people downloading our show each month - people are intrigued by this!

We record on location - taking a stereo mic, field kit, and our actors to interesting locations such as beaches, woods, lighthouses, airports, and bars to have them deliver lines in extremely realistic circumstances.  This makes the sound design more compelling than you ever get in a studio production and a lot of fun for the cast.

In absence of a viable economic model to sell radio drama, we're asking for you to pitch in and help make this happen.  We have several specific incentives for your support of The Cleansed, and we hope you'll join for the whole ride, as the story moves forward for the next 3 years.

HOW YOU EXPERIENCE IT

Starting March 2, 2012, we'll be releasing a full professionally mastered audio download for purchase on the first Friday of each month until the season's episodes are all broadcast.

For those who don't want to/can't pay, we'll also be offering a free podcast version in 5-7 minute chunks each week, which will be ad-supported.  For YOU, our Kickstarter listeners, you will get the exclusive link to the full version before everybody else no matter what you pay now.  That's our little thanks for pitching out here at the very beginning.

We ALSO (if we can round up the funds) plan to release YouTube'ified versions based on the audio serials... Think graphic novel meets radio drama - these episodes will feature breathtaking ink drawings similar to what you see above by illustrator Simon Adams, linked in tandem with the audio shorts.  It. Will. Be. Great. !
