This documentary is about how the arts and artists have impacted the economic changes of place-based development throughout history.

I am raising funds for a documentary film that explores the ways in which local artists have impacted the economic development and economic changes in small towns by focusing on my own small rural town, which is currently seeing economic development changes.  I will use the funds for equipment and editing software, as well as travel expenses to research artwork that has been made locally that might not be located here.  I will research archival material, interview local artists and town development officials, and film the experience to piece together whether or not artists play a role in the vitality of the economy in the face of industrialism and globalization.

My goal with this documentary is to reinforce the importance of art in our lives, and also the importance of supporting small businesses including artists and art-related shops.  Small businesses are key economic developers for smaller towns.  This film will be a case study for the new America in the face of globalization.
