Seeking funding for Illustrations,Editing & formatting of child's book . ANTS in the PLANTS at GRAMP'S plus updated new computer.

#1) My book..."Ants in the Plants at Gramps" needs to be illustrated, because some children are better learners through visual than written material alone. Some are even better learners through auditory than through written material alone. Frank Page, is going to help me solve my problem of not having my books continue being published as they are in their current STATE..."Without the Illustrations" by giving them the ILLUSTRATIONS THEY DESPERATELY NEED to help make my books more attractive, and more interesting to the audience I write for.  Making my books more interesting, and attractive will aid in better sales of my Children's books. Frank will also be giving all of my covers a much needed facelift. Frank Page is an illustrator and cartoonist in Central New York. Currently employed as a graphic designer and editorial cartoonist at the Rome Daily Sentinel. Frank is also an inductee of the Rome Art Hall of Fame @ the Capitol Theatre in Rome, NY. Frank is also an Adjunct Professor.@ Cazenovia College located in NYS.

Frank will tackle my books, one book at a time, Starting with..."ANTS in the PLANTS at GRAMP'S."

#2) My book also needs to be edited and formatted: I've chosen Pat Malin to do the job. Pat is a Freelance Writer/Journalist. One of Pats accomplishments can be seen in the "Monthly Mohawk Valley's Healthcare Newspaper" titled (in good Health) Pat also does articles for other newspapers and for magazines. Pat once work for a number of year @ the Observer Dispatch Daily Newspaper in the editorial dept, before choosing to become a Freelancer.

#3) I need a new computer to continue my writing: Mine has seen better days, but now is too old; For Real.

I WILL USE FUNDING FOR #'S 1thru3

Look for my next book and a few more in the near/future here on KICKSTARTER, that will also need to be illustrated, because only with donations can I make my books more attractive and interesting and visually teachable along side of the written material. One Book at a Time!

"Ants in the Plants at Gramps" is the book I'm currently seeking donations for, in the amount of $6,300 which will cover Frank's illustrations, Pat's editing & formatting, the new computer I need badly, the rewards for the donors, and the fees for KICKSTARTER AND FOR AMAZON, plus certain fees  for using the services of Createspace.com; where I self/publish my books that are then sold on Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble.com, as well as many other bookstore sites.

I have made personal contact with an award winning Illustrator from my Hometown of Rome, NY. His name is Frank Page. Frank will now be doing all of my illustrations in every Children's book I've written and will write in the future. Frank creates his own on-line comic strip, "Bob the Squirrel". The strip is syndicated online through Universal Uclick/GoComics.com since 2004. Page has self-published cartoons and several graphic novels. His award winning editorial cartoons are featured in the Rome Daily Sentinel. Page is an adjunct professor at Cazenovia College and holds a BFA in Illustration from Cazenovia and a MFA in Visual ART with emphasis on Sequential Art from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. Go check out Franks Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/bobthesquirrel

I have also made personal Contact with Pat Malin whom will do my editing and formatting.

How It Works

You'll work with the CreateSpace editorial team to finalize your manuscript, and then our design team will guide you through the book design process. The design team acts as a liaison between you and the professional book designer, capturing your input and facilitating the changes to your book's design. Throughout the design process, you'll be able to interact with the design team to make decisions about your book's final look and feel.

  1. Upload your manuscript in Microsoft Word or Rich Text Format (RTF) through your account and complete a brief questionnaire to give your editor an idea of your stylistic preferences.
  2. Accept or reject the suggested text updates recommended by your editor and upload your finalized manuscript and any images for your interior or cover.
  3. Before we begin designing your book, complete a few brief questionnaires to give our design team an idea of what you envision for your book's cover and interior. You'll have the opportunity to consult with our design team to help us understand the concepts you have in mind.
  4. We'll select an illustrator to work on your book. Your assigned artist will create a general storyboard which will evolve into black and white sketches and finally full-color illustrations. You can provide feedback at every stage of the process.
  5. Next we'll start on your cover; we'll create two unique design concepts based on your approved cover illustration. Give us feedback and select the cover concept that best matches your vision. Following your guidance and input, we'll design a complete cover for your book based on the cover concept you've selected.
  6. Finally, we'll begin your book's interior. We'll design a mock-up of your book's first few pages, and you can provide feedback. When you are pleased with your interior mock-up, we'll move forward with formatting the rest of your book.
  7. Review your digital cover and interior proofs and give us your final updates. After approving your digital proofs, we'll send you a proof copy of your book.
  8. Approve your proof copy and make your book available for sale.

Some design and text updates may incur additional fees; see our Changes Policy for more information.

Interior Images

You may include up to 10 images in your manuscript; additional images may be included for $15 per image.

{ANTS in the PLANTS at GRAMPS}

Every weekend we kids are able to go to our favorite place “Our Paternal Grandparents House.”

We stay with our Grandparents, from Fridays after school, through Sunday evening.

After Sunday dinner with our Grandparents, they take us back home to our parents.

When we get back home, it is time for our school-homework.

Our homework is always a piece of cake.

We would never want our homework to interfere with our weekends with our Grandparents.

We always have a bunch of fun times at our Grandma and Gramp’s house.

(ANTS in the PLANTS at GRAMPS)

One of our very best weekends with Grandma, and Gramps is when, Gramps showed us how to get rid of the Ants in his garden plants.

On this weekend, Gramp’s garden was overrun with Ants in his plants. But Gramps, and we kids set out to get rid of those Ants in Gramp’s garden plants – every single one; while Grandma looked on.

While in The Garden with Gramps

Checking On His Plants.

Gramps was the first to notice that his backyard garden “was overrun” by an invasion of thieving little Ants.

The thieving Ants – it seemed, were having a garden party feast, on every plant – from the biggest to the least.

Gramps said; I cannot believe these little thieves have the audacity to invade my garden – to do what they please.

I shall not put up with their dastardly deed.

It seemed as though Gramp’s blood was boiling, and getting ready to explode like a raging volcano.

For Gramps, this Ant invasion was a bitter pill to swallow.

Gramp’s garden was going to ruins – like a sinking ship.

Gramps tried to hold a stiff upper lip.

Nevertheless, Gramps just had to scream & shout from his gut what he felt.

And this is what he belted out – I have tended my garden day-in and day-out. So, I am not about to let these Ants have the runabout.

All was fine, until these “Thieving little plant eating Ants” stepped over the line.

How dare they try to rob me blind, especially, before harvest time!

Gramps had lost most of the first fruits of his labors to these plant eating menacing invaders. Gramps was rightfully annoyed over all that had been, destroyed.

Gramps said it was time to employ the necessary steps to get rid of these wretched thieving little creeps, starting with the strongest right straight down to the weak.

Gramps said – at least, when the grasshoppers drop in, they only stay for a short stay then hop and fly away.

And the bees are no bother, because they help pollinate to help make the vegetables, fruits, berries, and flowers come alive.

But these little buggers never leave.

They are like a big corporation, filled with corporate thieves. They bleed you with their greedy need for greed.

Gramps knew he had to do something to save his Plants

Gramps’ thought for sure, that if, he did not make a stance against the marauding army of chomping and chewing annoying Ants that his garden plants stood not a ghost of a chance.

Gramps was the kind of gramps that would find a way of destroying these little scamps that had no business messing with his garden plants.

These Ants were like squatters – interlopers of the worst kind, with “a one track little Ant mind”

Gramps said that Ants like these – they nibble away, all throughout the day – from morning time, to noontime, and on into the evening time, then on into the nighttime too.

They never quit.

Not even for playtime do they quit.

Playtime to the little thieving Ants is work time.

Work-time, to these “little sophisticated snatchers” having no sense of time – always, seems to be the right time to partake of a continuous free mealtime.

Seems, the thought of food is always on their little Ant minds.

They even march back-n-forth in line, like a scourge of vultures without a diet to curb.

They are never full.

They will never be satisfied, until they steal ever bit of the crop.

Gramps said; it is going to be curtain time, on this pack of little thieving slim.

Everywhere the slew of Plant Eaters went – they would chomp & chew, and chomp & chew without relent.

Chomp & chew, hours on end, is all them Plant- Eater-Ants did do.

Gramps had a few things up his sleeve to save the garden plants, under siege.

The only thing Gramps could do to put an end to the Ant’s shenanigans, was, “to bring out the right ammunition.”

So, Gramps finally decided it was time to take a stance.

Gramps said; these, vandalizing bunch of hooligans are going the get their comeuppance, very quickly before I end up left with not a thing.

Gramps would show those annoying little Ants who really wears’ the pants.

So, at first – Gramps attempted a rain dance.

Gramps thought he could make the rain come down to drown every chomping & chewing rascal around.

Unfortunately, the rain did not come down.

Next, Gramps took out the garden hose hoping a good spraying of good ole H2o would dispose of these foes that have come in groves to eat everything in the garden that grows.

Gramps ended up being, a little carried away with the H2o. The plants were, now over-watered.

Some of the thieving Ants were floating upside-down in the puddles on top of the ground.

The majority waddled away, to safer ground.

This left Gramps with even more woes.

Gramps knew that the slew that scattered, would assuredly return, to carryout their butchery on his plants.

Gramps was not going to give up the ship to these marauding thieves just yet, because he knew what they wanted to do. Gramps said they'd grow fatter on stolen food from his plants while sharing the rest with the rest of the slew in the Ant colony underground.

Gramps knowing that the rain dance, and the good hosing, was wasted effort – he dreaded the moment the escape artists decided to come back around.

But when they did, Gramps would sure be ready to stand his ground.

Gramps waited, until the water seeped into the soil and evaporated into air, just to see if those thieving Ants did dare come back around.

Sure enough, just as Gramps suspected – the little buggers were right back on track to plunder his plants, just like he knew they would be.

But Gramps still had a few more tricks up his sleeve.

 Annoying little Ants, said Gramps.

They are back, but I am not wavering in my desire in whacking this little band of bandits that have benefited from my green thumb.

They shall not steal my bounty to leave me with nothing but crumbs.

Ants in the garden flowers

Ants in the berry patch

Ants everywhere

Ants even in the honeydews

Hours on end

Chomp & chew

Chomp & chew, is all they do.

But not this time around.

I know what I must do, said Gramps.

I am going to bring out my well-found “natural and safe homemade organic remedies.”

Gramps went on to say that, he already prepared some concoctions to rid the plant-eating enemies that cannot settle for a little, and, have too much gall to want it all.

Gramps told us… The concoctions are stored in his shed, but must now be unleashed on these plant destroying little creeps.

Poor Gramps, having to deal with all those Ants with the nerve to come right back to wreak havoc, up and down, and, in and out, of his plants.

Some of them little thieving Ants, were now, hanging out in regiments, marching two-by-two through rows of honeydews.

Some were carrying on their annoying little backs honeydew after honeydew – as they made tracks right past Gramps and even over his shoes, then rounding in a curve – The nerve – right past Gramps, even over Gramp’s Shoes.

With both The Illustrator and the Editor/Format person there could give me each a slight delay, but the show will go forward. They are aware of when they will get paid for their help. The Editor/Formatting person is currently working on her end and expects to be finished soon is already working and trusts that I will pay her soon after I receive the funding from here. The Illustrator told me it would take him about 3weeks after he is paid.
I self/publish so there will be no delay on my part. All I have to do is upload and send. And within 24hrs the book is displayed for sale on amazon.com.
