What is Faith? How does one find Faith? Where does Faith begin? What does it Faith have to do with the modern world and religion?
The book Fallacies in Faith will discuss my own spiritual journey. Each chapter tackles a religious topic or Biblical story, an in depth examination of that topic or story along with my own thoughts and how that story impacted my life. Each chapter will have personal stories from my own encounters with different religious people relating to the topics. While taking a hard look at the Bible and society, I will be chronicling my own search for faith. Although, every chapter will cover a different topic, and aspects of the journey, it will not be until the last chapter when I reveal my own conclusions about faith, and explain the faith that I have. Some of the material in the book may be considered critical of religions and controversial, but I want the book to make think people about their own faith.
Growing up, I was told what to believe and why to believe it. The most common reason was "Because that is what we believe." And believing was expected. So I try to believe what I was told to believe as a child, but I had questions that no one seemed to be able to answer. When I was older, I was told not to question things just believe them. However, I could not bring myself to do that, as a result I questioned everything and began studying everything that I was told would make my faith stronger. Yet, I still had questions and I needed answers.
In a world with so much turmoil and diversity, people often turn to religion for guidance and answers. But how does religion fit into modern society? As I look at the issues that face man, I see nothing that man cannot over come except one thing. Why do we have faith? And what is the true meaning of Faith? If you were born somewhere else you would believe different things, is belief merely a product of environment.
Feel free to send me your questions and I will put together a FAQ to better answer them.
